Privacy policy
Last updated: 27 October 2026
This policy explains what personal data Studogram collects, why we collect it, who we share it with and the rights you have. We wrote it to be read — by students and parents — and to meet India’s Digital Personal Data Protection Act, 2023 (“DPDP Act”) and the IT Act, 2000.
1. Who we are
Studogram is operated by [Registered company name], [Registered address, City, State, PIN] (“Studogram”, “we”, “us”). We are the Data Fiduciary for the personal data described here. Questions: privacy@studogram.com.
2. Children and parental consent
Studogram is for students. If you are under 18, we treat you as a child under the DPDP Act: your account stays locked until a parent or lawful guardian gives verifiable consent by confirming their own phone number with a one-time password (OTP). For students under 18 we:
- do not show advertising and do not track behaviour for advertising;
- do not build profiles for targeted advertising or sell data;
- only show content suited to their class level;
- do not allow adults to comment on, answer or interact with their posts unless the adult is a teacher verified by us.
A parent can withdraw consent at any time, which stops processing and leads to deletion of the child’s account as described in section 8.
3. What we collect
| Data | Why we need it |
|---|---|
| Mobile number | To create and secure your account with an OTP login. |
| Date of birth | To know if parental consent is needed and to show age-appropriate content. Your exact birth date is never shown to others. |
| Class, board, exams, subjects and language | To show reels, doubts and AI help that match what you study. |
| Profile: name, username, photo, bio | Shown on your public profile so others can follow you. |
| Parent’s mobile number (under-18s) | To ask for and record parental consent. |
| Content you create: reels, captions, doubts, answers, comments, photos of questions | To publish them as you choose. Reels, doubts, answers and comments are visible to other users in the right age group. |
| Private messages (text and shared posts) | To deliver them to the person you chat with. Messages are checked automatically for phone numbers, links and abusive words before sending. Our moderators can read a message only when someone reports it, together with a few messages around it for context. |
| Notes, flashcards and study timetable | To provide your study tools. These are private to you. |
| Activity: follows, likes, saves, views and watch time, searches | To run the app (your Following feed, saved reels) and to recommend learning content. For under-18s this is used only to recommend learning content inside the app — never for ads. |
| Reports, blocks and moderation records | To keep the community safe and handle complaints. |
| Technical data: device type, app version, IP address, crash logs | Security, preventing abuse and fixing bugs. |
We do not collect your contacts, precise location, or Aadhaar. Study reminders are scheduled on your own phone.
4. AI features
When you use an AI feature — refining or summarising notes, scanning a notebook, getting a hint or solution to a doubt — the text or image you submit is sent to our AI service provider (currently Google’s Gemini API) to generate the result. We also use AI to check posts, comments and reels for safety and relevance before they go public. We use paid, business API terms under which providers may not use your content to train their models. AI can make mistakes; always check important answers.
5. Who we share data with
We never sell personal data. We share it only with service providers (“Data Processors”) who process it on our instructions and under contract:
- Supabase — database, authentication and file storage;
- Mux — video upload, processing and streaming of reels;
- Google (Gemini API) — AI features and content safety checks;
- SMS providers — sending OTP codes;
- Hosting, push notification and crash-reporting providers — to run the website and app.
Some providers may process data outside India, in countries not restricted by the Government of India, with safeguards in our contracts. We may also disclose data when required by Indian law, a court order, or to protect someone’s safety.
6. How long we keep data
- Account and content: while your account is active.
- After you delete your account: removed within 30 days, except backups which roll off within a further 30 days.
- Records we must keep by law (for example, records relating to a complaint or legal request) may be kept longer, only as required.
- Unverified accounts of under-18s whose parent never approves are deleted after 30 days.
7. Security
Data is encrypted in transit (HTTPS) and at rest by our providers. Access inside our team is limited to people who need it. Database rules control exactly who can see each piece of content. If a personal data breach happens, we will inform affected users and the Data Protection Board of India as the law requires.
8. Your rights
Under the DPDP Act you (or your parent, if you are under 18) can:
- get a summary of the personal data we hold and how we use it;
- correct or update inaccurate data — most of it directly in the app;
- withdraw consent at any time;
- ask us to delete your data — see Delete your account;
- nominate someone to exercise these rights if you die or become incapacitated;
- raise a grievance with us, and then with the Data Protection Board of India.
Email privacy@studogram.com with your username and registered mobile number, or write to our Grievance Officer below. We reply within 7 days and resolve requests within 30 days.
9. Grievance Officer
[Grievance Officer name]
[Registered company name], [Registered address, City, State, PIN]
Email: grievance@studogram.com
We acknowledge complaints within 24 hours and aim to resolve them within 15 days.
10. Changes
If we change this policy in a way that matters, we’ll tell you in the app before it takes effect, and ask for fresh consent where the law requires.
